Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Bhaktapur Durbar Square is an aggregation of pagoda and shikhara-style temples assembled around a fifty-five-window royal residence of block and wood. The square is one of the most obviously beguiling design centerpieces of the Valley as it highlights the old crafts of Nepal. The golden representations of rulers roosted on the top of stone monuments, the watchman divinities looking out from their asylums, the woodcarvings in each spot-struts, lintels, uprights, tympanums, doors and windows-all appear to shape a generally-arranged ensemble.
